Chess

  • Chess Competition meets four times throughout the year.  Students participate at the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. There is also an open section at both the elementary and middle school levels, which provides an opportunity for other club members to participate in the tournaments. The CoSer for this program is 540.060.

Competitions are held on Saturdays at the CG May Center in Mt. Morris. While not a spectator sport, parents, friends and family members are invited to show their support during these closed competitions. Participants compete with students from neighboring districts, and earn medals for first, second and third place within their divisions. Students have a great deal of fun while learning the intricacies of chess.
