Employees at the Genesee Valley BOCES coordinate the process for confirming the competence and substantial equivalency of instruction being provided to home-schooled students. GV BOCES staff will review Individualized Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs), quarterly reports, and annual assessments. Staff also respond to requests from districts or parents for assistance or information related to home instruction. Ultimately, the school superintendent where the student resides determines competence and substantial equivalence of instruction being provided to homeschooled students based upon reports from the home school monitoring team at GV BOCES.
