Batavia Career and Technical Education Center Award Winners

Abigail Carney, Pavilion, $2,000
Abigail is a student in the Health Careers Academy who will be attending SUNY Brockport to study Nursing. Abigail is a member and an officer of the National Honor Society.  She hopes to earn an RN degree and to further her education to become a nurse practitioner. Her goal is to work in a hospital setting in either an emergency department or an intensive care unit. 

Alexa Wolcott, Pavilion, $1,500
Alexa is a student in the Culinary Arts Program. She is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. She is a two-time member of the NASA Culinary Challenge team which has reached the top ten in the national competition.  Alexa plans to attend college to study Physical Education at SUNY Delhi, where she hopes to design a major that will combine her love of culinary arts and physical education. 

Jenna Gilbert, Oakfield-Alabama, $1,000
Jenna is a student in the Culinary Arts Program.  She is ranked in the top three in her class at Oakfield-Alabama and is a member of the National Honor Society. Jenna will attend SUNY Brockport to study Nursing.  Once she receives her degree in nursing, she plans to work in a pediatric unit at a hospital or a healthcare facility.  She aims to someday obtain her nurse practitioner license and open her own practice.

Mount Morris Career and Technical Education Center Award Winners

Charina Gray, Wayland-Cohocton, $2,000
Charina is a student in the Health Careers Academy program who will be attending SUNY Brockport to major in Nursing.  She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and Honor Society.  Her goal is to become an RN and work in a hospital's intensive care unit while furthering her education to obtain her master's degree and CRNA certification.  She also aspires to be an author on the side and publish a fictional narrative/novel.

Bridgitte Johnson, York, $1,500
Bridgitte is a student in the Ag Production program who will be attending Alfred State to major in Agricultural Technology.  She is a member and the Treasurer of the National Technical Honor Society and the Charles G. May FFA. The Agricultural Technology program at Alfred State will pave the way for her to reach her career goals of owning her own farm and business, which will focus on producing food crops for both human and livestock consumption.

Caitlyn Conroy, Dansville, $1,000
Caitlyn is a student in the Health Careers Academy who will be attending Alfred State's Nursing program.  She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and has earned the Varsity D, Script D, and Presidential Awards.  Caitlyn plans on starting her career through the Nursing program and becoming a staff nurse.  She is also planning to potentially go back to school to become a Physician Assistant.
