School Improvement (SI) is one of several Professional Learning Service (PLS) departments at Genesee Valley BOCES.  We aim to provide professional learning and instructional training that aligns with NYS Standards and support local districts with continuous school improvement initiatives. Our intention is to work collaboratively to prepare all students for post-secondary opportunities.

The team's diverse background affords districts the opportunity to leverage expertise in order to attain school improvement goals. Utilizing CoSer 526 enables districts to creatively problem-solve to meet local needs, while being fiscally responsible.

• Professional Learning Opportunities: SI provides synchronous and asynchronous regional Professional Learning Opportunities (PLOs) regarding curriculum, instruction, assessment, and much more. 
   
• Embedded Work: SI partners with districts in embedded school improvement efforts - including creating short and long-range goals/plan around curriculum development, instructional practices, assessment creation, and analysis of data. 
   
• Regional Cohorts: SI facilitates the collaboration of similar subject area participants in an effort to learn, implement, and reflect on best practices.
   
• Technical Assistance: SI consults and collaborates with local administrators to support district initiatives, answer questions, and provide resources and tools. 
   
• Consultation: SI supports teachers by sharing resources and tools, answering questions, and offering suggestions to improve instructional practices. 
   
• NYSED Liaison: SI acts as a liaison between NYSED and our local districts to ensure the Genesee Valley Region has representation at the state level by communicating updates, turnkeying statewide professional learning, and participating in stakeholder groups.
